Im not sure if i should put this here...or if ill get told off for doing so but i often find myself wondering about Lore, and more importantly aspects of Lore i dont know!
So...my question is...can anyone give an example of Night Elf Music.
Are there vocals? Instruments, whats is sound like? Do they like music? Dance or celebrate at all?
Once again sorry if in the wrong place.

It's hard to say. I'm sure there's a lot of theories and perspectives but it's probably best to think of them as a kind of tribal sound, with no real discerning characteristics. I'd presume instruments such as pan pipes, flutes, harps and skin drums at a guess.
Dancing and celebrations would be important to Kaldorei also. They have the Lunar festival, for example, which is pretty much a celebration of Elune and there's lots of fireworks, bonfires and the like involved. I'd think they probably enjoy a dance, though perhaps not a 'formal' dance like Humans would enjoy, for example. Possibly, and again this is a total guess, a dance similar to African or South American styles - very emotional, very 'free', but very much a group thing.

Nonsense Kanderil, we all know that the Night Elves attend balls, dressed in a french 18th centurry fashion. <snorts> Seriously though, excellent question here. The Kaldorei are a very pagan people. Drop the torches Yen, I'm not done =P Pagan as in they have a huge respect for nature, a Greater Goddess (the Mother, the Mother of Us All, the Moon, etc etc) and a much "freer" society compared to the conservative and somewhat boring Christians (Humans and High Elves). NOTE: these are comparisons, not facts.

I think instruments of wood and skin would be used, yes: windchimes, flutes, pipes, drums. Maybe something like a xylophone. or harp. Someone who knows something about music could go to the Temple of the Moon and tell us what instruments the "new" background music there imitates? Kaldorei dancing ... yes, I picture that as "tribal" too. Line or circle dances, trance-dances, and an old idea which I've always wanted to use in a short story: beast dances, i.e. imitating animals, maybe with the appropriate costumes.

Someone who knows something about music could go to the Temple of the Moon and tell us what instruments the "new" background music there imitates? A harp-like instrument, and I think I also recognice a violin sound. And maybe even a bone or hard wooden flute. The WC3 soundtrack of the Night Elves includes horns, violins and multiple types of drums I think. Altough, I could be wrong since i'm not an expert. The kaldorei cultures is natural and harmonic, and music is a good way to find harmony. So I guess they like music. Also in african lifestyles they live in harmony with nature, and enjoy to dance and make music. I think kaldorei express themselves the same way.

Ive been tryingto find somthing out on wow wiki but i just cant find anything!
The temple of the moon would suggest it uses harps alot, however i think there are other aspects to it as well! Yes drums to a certain extent but then id view drums as more of a Tauren thing...or War march even.
Im just trying to find some nice music to put to videos and the likes which is understandably idefiable with the Kaldorei.
I do like the WC3 stuff however when listening to it, i felt it wasnt really that close to what id would like to Kaldorei to represent.
Im probably being fussy lol!

Someone who knows something about music could go to the Temple of the Moon and tell us what instruments the "new" background music there imitates? I had a listen to the melody today, and noticed the first few bars start with both a harpsichord and a harp (although it's most likely a clĂ rsach is used, producing a more 'celtic' feel), playing in harmony with one another. Very gradually, the rest of the melody is joined by the following instruments, in this order; a flute, or perhaps a fife, which gives a slightly softer sound, both a glockenspiel and a xylophone, a violin, and lastly an oboe.

Impressive, thanks. Do you have access to the WC3 soundtracks for the night elf campaign, too?

Old thread is old...but reading this made me think of this.Probably not close at all, but sounds kind of tribal no? Now I have the image of Kal'dorei dressed like stags and night sabres dancing around a fire stuck in my head. Thank you
